EBA Recognizes 2022 Excellence Award Winners

EBA Engineering, Inc. (EBA) was pleased to honor this year’s outstanding projects and employees at our holiday party held on December 17, 2022, at Turf Valley Resort in Ellicott City, Maryland. Learn more about this year’s excellence award recipients below.

Project of the Year Award

EBA was proud to work on many innovative, successful projects in 2022, but recently we recognized the best-of-the-best with our 2022 Project of the Year Award.

That honor went to the Howard Street Emergency Sinkhole and Water Main Repair project. When the City of Baltimore requested help with a water leak on Howard Street, EBA responded immediately. A main concern was the leak’s proximity to critical transportation infrastructure, including Maryland Transportation Authority (MTA) Light RailLink tracks and a CSX Transportation tunnel that runs underneath the tracks.

EBA’s team of engineers worked around the clock to identify the leak source and then design and oversee repairs despite many site constraints and limitations. EBA’s efforts helped the City restore water service as quickly as possible for affected customers, while avoiding a potentially catastrophic CSX tunnel failure and costly economic impacts.

The project was also recently recognized with an Honor Award in the American Council of Engineering Companies of Metropolitan Washington (ACEC/MW) 2022-2023 Engineering Excellence Awards competition.

Employee Excellence Award

EBA’s Employee Excellence Award honors an employee whose contributions and efforts embody EBA’s motto, “where commitment counts.”

This year, the award went to Keith Robinson, EBA’s help desk administrator. After joining EBA only 7 months ago, Keith has since set the gold standard for professionalism in the workplace, never turning down any challenge. His attention to detail and work ethic have helped the IT department complete several vital new initiatives to the benefit of all employees.

Keith handles all help desk inquiries with proper priority. His professional, customer-centric approach has positively influenced companywide morale.

Selection Criteria

EBA’s Project of the Year Award nominees are judged based on their success at exceeding client needs; uniqueness; innovation; scope and significance; social, economic, and sustainable impacts; level of difficulty; and project constraints.

EBA’s Employee Excellence Award is selected based on the employee’s positive contributions to company processes, support of customer satisfaction, innovation, impact on morale, and overall effort.

Congratulations to Keith and the Howard Street project team (Khalid Qadwai, Richard Thomasson, and John Tabak) for their achievements! Thank you for your relentless commitment to excellence!
