EBA’s Khalid Qadwai is Named ACEC/MD Engineer of the Year
Khalid Qadwai, PE, PMP, an associate and a senior project manager for EBA Engineering, Inc. (EBA), has been named the American Council of Engineering Companies/Maryland (ACEC/MD) 2023 Engineer of the Year from a mid-large firm. Qadwai accepted the award at a banquet held at Baltimore’s historic Garrett-Jacobs Mansion on Thursday, February 16, 2023.
“Khalid’s commitment to the profession, the City of Baltimore, and other jurisdictions epitomizes the values this award seeks to recognize,” said EBA President and CEO Rizwan Siddiqi, PE.
Over his 23-year career as a water systems engineer, Qadwai has led numerous large and complex water and wastewater design and construction projects to help maintain infrastructure systems and provide safe drinking water.
Qadwai has helped the City of Baltimore repair several critical water main breaks. Most recently, he oversaw a successful emergency repair project to quickly address a water main break on Howard Street, which had created a large sinkhole and compromised a rail tunnel under the roadway and light rail traffic above ground.
As chairman of the ACEC/MD Baltimore City Liaison Committee, Qadwai plays a key role in helping the City of Baltimore address issues of critical impact and importance to the local community and communicating important information to the engineering industry. He also serves on the organization’s Utilities Committee.
In 2022, Qadwai’s projects received two ACEC honor awards and one national recognition award. He has presented papers for the ASCE Pipeline Conference and the Chesapeake Tri-Association Conference, and he has published in MASTT – Mid-Atlantic Journal of Trenchless Technology magazine.
Qadwai is a licensed professional engineer in Maryland, Virginia, and the District of Columbia and a certified project management professional (PMP). He holds a master’s degree in environmental engineering from Old Dominion University and a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from the NED University of Engineering and Technology in Karachi, Pakistan.
