MD 231 at JW Williams Road Intersections Improvements
EBA designed, detailed, and produced construction documents for this intersection improvement project, which involved a dedicated bypass lane for an existing intersection that is the main access to a College of Southern Maryland campus. An existing deteriorated roadway embankment was also repaired and reinforced to minimize future deterioration.
EBA designed the project to avoid numerous existing underground utilities and minimize full-depth pavement requirements, reducing the potential construction costs by several hundred thousand dollars.
The project required extensive coordination with Calvert County and various state and local agencies. EBA’s design services included full surveys; plats; roadway design; signing and marking; maintenance of traffic; signal modification; super-elevation adjustments to meet current standards; drainage design; roadside design; erosion and sediment control; environmental permitting; and full bid documents, specifications, and estimates.
