Sands Road Bridge Replacement
EBA provided design and contract documents for a 40-foot bridge replacement and 0.3 miles of approach roadway widening and realignment. The superstructure is a steel beam superstructure with concrete slab, on pile-supported concrete abutments. Riprap was placed in front of the abutments and along the stream banks.
A portion of the existing bridge was removed to accommodate the construction of one lane on the proposed bridge, and temporary traffic lights were installed at each end of the bridge to control alternating one-way traffic. When that portion of the proposed bridge was complete, the traffic was shifted on the new bridge and the remaining portion of the existing bridge was demolished.
