Dorsey Run Correctional Facility, Phases 1 and 2

As part of the design-build team, EBA provided civil engineering services from concept through construction for the Maryland Correctional Pre-Release System in Jessup, Maryland.

The Dorsey Run Correctional Facility includes housing, administration, security, education, food services, visitation, and support for approximately 560 inmates. The two-compound, 1,120-bed minimum security facility was constructed in two phases.

Phase 1—a new 159,000-gsf East Compound—includes two 2-story, 280-bed housing units, a 1-story support services building, a recreation yard, a perimeter fence system with sally port and entrance security post, access roads, and parking areas. Site work includes grading, stormwater management system, and off-site utilities for both compounds. The building features visitor, pharmacy, administration, kitchen, and dining areas.

EBA also provided structural engineering services for Phase 2 of the project, which included three buildings and associated site improvements. The facility obtained LEED Silver certification.
