I-64 Widening and Improvements

EBA provided quality control inspection and testing services during this widening of I-64 from the I-295 interchange (mile marker 200) to the Bottoms Bridge/Quinton interchange (mile marker 205). Completion of this design-build project has alleviated traffic congestion and enhanced driver safety along a 3.8-mile section of I-64 that had previously experienced some of the highest traffic volumes and crash rates along the roadway.

Improvements to I-64 included the addition of a travel lane and shoulder in both directions, widening the existing bridge over Chickahominy River, and extending lanes and entrances to provide better access at truck weigh stations.

EBA’s quality control inspections and testing services confirmed compliance with the VDOT Design/Build Manual and multiple other bridge and roadway specifications. EBA also conducted off-site inspection of materials and fabricated products as required.

Drawing upon our extensive expertise in construction management and inspection, along with our deep knowledge of applicable specifications and requirements, EBA helped to facilitate an on-time, under-budget completion of this project.
