Tuckahoe State Park Boating and Fishing Area ADA Accessibility Improvements
EBA performed civil and structural engineering, survey, permitting, wetland delineation, and construction administration services to provide Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) access at the existing boat ramp facility in Tuckahoe State Park. Efforts included preparing the following bid documents:
• An ADA-compliant prefabricated floating dock, including aluminum gangway with railings and associated onshore rigid structure, for kayak launching.
• Reconfiguration and restriping of the existing parking lot to enable usage of both the existing boat ramp and new floating dock, and to incorporate two ADA parking spaces.
• Conversion of an existing dirt trail to a 200-linear-foot asphalt trail with a 60-inch width and turning area that meets ADA accessibility requirements and accommodates 2 wheelchairs at a time.
An ADA-compliant prefabricated floating dock for fishing, including aluminum gangway, associated onshore rigid structure, benches, and rod holders.
Work for the wetland delineation involved using the Unified Federal Wetland Delineation Method to locate the edges of the existing non-tidal wetlands, including vegetation, hydric soil, and hydrology analyses. Services also including flagging, taking photos, and marking each wetland system on the base sheet; completing a USACE on-site data form; and preparing a wetland delineation plan and report for agency review. Other activities included coordinating a joint permit for wetland and waterway impacts and preparing impact and restoration plans.
