Runway Safety Area Improvements at BWI Airport
EBA provided construction inspection and materials testing services for the pavement rehabilitation of Runway 10-28 and Runway 15R-33L at Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport. These runways are now in compliance with Congress’ new federal runway safety area improvement mandates.
The projects included milling and overlay of bituminous concrete pavement; excavation and placement of new full-strength runway, taxiway, and shoulder paving sections; drainage system replacement; shallow depth excavation; re-grading of the runway safety areas and ditch installation; construction of a new perimeter and service roads; installation of new airfield electrical infrastructure; adjustment of existing infrastructure and installation of new lighting; installation of new NAVAID infrastructure; reconstruction of existing NAVAID infrastructure; and installation of new lights.
