Rehabilitation of Bridge No. AA-3001 on Magothy Bridge Road

EBA is performing construction management and inspection services for the rehabilitation and widening of Bridge No. AA-3001 on Magothy Bridge Road over the Magothy River. Bridge inspections had categorized the bridge deck as functionally obsolete, in accordance with Federal Highway Administration Criteria, and recommended replacing the bridge deck to improve vehicular safety.

The project is widening the existing bridge on both the north and south sides to improve roadway functionality, along with adding structural improvements to address deficiencies. The complicated bridge widening requires the construction of both the east and west roadway approaches in a confined space of established neighborhoods on both sides. The work also includes driveway and sidewalk reconstruction, stormwater management, water line relocation, and traffic barrier installation.

After bridge rehabilitation, the currently posted load restriction for Maryland legal loads will be removed. The project is also improving stormwater runoff to meet required water quality standards for the Chesapeake Bay. Finally, the project enhances pedestrian safety and connectivity for residences to local schools and shopping centers.
