Logistics Facility at Goddard Space Flight Center
EBA provided site engineering services for a new logistics facility at the NASA Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, Maryland.
EBA first surveyed 25 acres of land to analyze site conditions for the building and parking lot areas and mapped 1,700 feet of Soil Conservation Road to improve site access.
As the civil engineer of record, EBA provided engineering services for development of approximately 9 acres for the new facility. The project was constructed in three phases and included construction of the shipping and receiving building, compressed gas cylinder storage building, new utilities, loading docks, truck loading areas, and parking lots. The project also included access road improvements; the addition of turning, acceleration, and deceleration lanes on the adjacent county road; and associated stormwater management facilities.
EBA performed topographic survey and geotechnical investigation of the project site. Based on the site topographic conditions and NASA requirements, EBA prepared a site layout plan for all three phases. EBA also prepared a stormwater management report and performed a wetland investigation and forest stand delineation for all phases.
EBA prepared construction documents, including design of grading, water and sanitary lines, fences, roadways, maintenance of traffic plans, and erosion and sediment control.
