EBA Engineering Receives 2024 ACEC/MW Engineering Excellence Award
Laurel, MD – EBA Engineering, Inc. is proud to announce that it has been honored with a 2024 Engineering Excellence Award by the American Council of Engineering Companies of Metropolitan Washington (ACEC/MW) for its outstanding work on the Lane Place Pedestrian Bridge Emergency Replacement project. EBA’s Rizwan Siddiqi, PE; Pranoy Choudhury, CCM; Redha Hasan, PE; Farshid Faramarzi; and Wasi Khan accepted the award at ACEC/MW’s annual awards gala held on December 17, 2024 in Washington, DC.
The Lane Place Pedestrian Bridge, located in Washington, DC, suffered critical damage that led to its collapse after a truck collision in 2021. EBA performed a vital role in the emergency bridge replacement by providing construction management and inspection (CMI) services. The new bridge, designed and constructed on an accelerated timeline, restored a vital connection between the Kenilworth, Eastland Gardens, and Deanwood communities while significantly enhancing pedestrian safety, accessibility, and neighborhood connectivity.
EBA’s efforts were instrumental in delivering this $10.7 million project on time and within budget. The project incorporated prefabricated bridge components and advanced digital tools for real-time inspection and quality control to minimize construction impacts and achieve compliance with environmental and regulatory requirements.
“This project exemplifies the transformative power of innovative engineering in enhancing community infrastructure and quality of life,” said Rizwan Siddiqi, PE, F.ACEC, President and CEO of EBA. “We are incredibly honored to be recognized by ACEC/MW and proud to have played a pivotal role in a project that has reconnected neighborhoods and delivered enduring value to the DC community.”
ACEC’s annual Engineering Excellence Awards competition recognizes engineering firms for projects demonstrating exceptional engineering, innovation, complexity, achievement, and value.
