EBA Engineering’s Kunal Gangopadhyay Receives National Community Service Award
EBA Engineering, Inc. (EBA) senior associate and founding principal Kunal Gangopadhyay, PE, has received the 2018 Community Service Award from the American Council of Engineering Companies (ACEC). The award was presented on October 30, 2018, during ACEC’s 2018 Fall Conference at the Bellagio in Las Vegas, Nevada.
This national award recognizes an individual’s outstanding contributions to the quality of life in his or her community and accomplishments in community service.
“It is fitting to honor Kunal as the sole recipient of ACEC’s Community Service Award this year,” said EBA President and CEO Rizwan Siddiqi, PE. “Kunal has spent his career advocating for STEM education and encouraging us to work together to inspire and nurture the next generation of STEM professionals.”
Kunal is a member and former chairman of the Baltimore County Career and Technology Education Advisory Council (CTEAC), as well as a frequent volunteer, mentor, speaker, and adviser. On behalf of CTEAC, he testified before the school board for providing adequate funding for technology education. He was also appointed as an advisor to Baltimore County Public Schools’ Project Lead the Way (PLTW) program.
As a member and former chairman of Baltimore County’s MBE Advisory Council, Kunal helped the County conduct its disparity study and develop its MBE/WBE procurement policy.
Kunal has also been actively engaged with various ethnic communities to foster harmonious community relations. He is a board member of the India Forum and a founder of Baltimore’s Bengali Community organization, Prantik.
As an engineering professional, he has made countless contributions in his 46-year career with EBA, such as helping to establish the firm’s civil/site, geotechnical, structural, transportation, and water systems engineering departments. He has also managed quality assurance for EBA’s engineering design departments for the last 10 years.
Kunal previously received the 2018 Community Service Award from the ACEC Maryland chapter.
